Yesterday's Answers:
1. How does a levee protect a town?
A levee is a natural mound of dirt that is usually made by flowing water. There are man-made levees too, which are long low hills that keep water out of an area. Levees control flooding. They keep flood waters away from towns and neighborhoods.

2. Why are hot springs so hot?
The water in a hot spring is heated by 'geothermal' heat. That means heat from the Earth's interior. It gets hotter as you go deeper into the Earth's crust. Water that goes down deep in the crust gets hot from the hot rocks. Then the hot water moves back up and makes a hot spring.
